Fosrego®

Sevelamer Carbonate

Beyond phosphate control, Sevelamer Carbonate reduces inflammatory markers, lowers the risk of renal osteodystrophy compared with calcium-based phosphate binders, and increases bicarbonate levels - addressing metabolic acidosis alongside hyperphosphatemia. A practical workhorse for the CKD-MBD picture.

Indication

Fosrego® (Sevelamer Carbonate 400 mg / 800 mg) is a phosphate binder indicated in hyperphosphatemia to control serum phosphorus levels in chronic kidney disease patients, including those on dialysis.

Mechanism of action

Fosrego® is a non-metal, non-absorbing phosphate binder. The polymer binds phosphate throughout the gut, reducing systemic absorption of dietary phosphorus and lowering serum phosphate without contributing to calcium load.
